The workshop will be held as "traditional" workshop with publishable papers of accepted contributions, short oral presentations of the research approaches, and extensive, interdisciplinary group working sessions.

Tentative time plan for the workshop

The workshop well be held on Saturday, September 8th 2012 and covers the full day (08.30AM till ~5:15PM) as outlined in the following.
  • We will begin the workshop with a brief presentation by the organizers describing the workshop goal and agenda (15min.). The organizers will then introduce into the topic of subliminal perception/persuasion and point out the key problems/issues (15min.) to be addressed to stimulate discussion in the following brainstorming round (60min.).
  • The morning brainstorming round is dedicated to a unpersuaded collection of catchwords, pros/cons, topics of interest, etc. to be further focused on in the later sessions (--> afternoon group works).
  • After the coffee break (30min.), the rest of the morning will used for short research work presentations of all participants. The aim is a methodical presentation of the individual approaches to employ subliminal techniques (~10min. presentations followed by 1-2 Q&A). Depending on the number of active participants (8 or fewer), the designated time per talk will be determined and presenters will be informed about this in advance.
  • Lunch break (90min.)
  • After breaking for lunch, we will start with group discussions (2 sessions of 60min. each, followed by a 30min. presentation and discussion block), a substantial part for the success of the workshop. Specific organization of the group work (composition, group size, etc.) will be arranged by the workshop organizers before the workshop based on the heterogeneity of submitted position papers, and re-arranged during the lunch break depending on the actual number of participants. A group will ideally consist of 4-5 persons working in different research disciplines and the predefined questions to be discussed in the groups will be refined by the workshop organizers based on the morning brainstorming round. Each group will be asked to create a poster or PPT slides to be presented and discussed in the auditorium. The two rounds of group work will be interrupted by the afternoon coffee break.
  • After the last presentation&discussion round, the organizers will wrap-up the workshop, discuss potential future activities, e.g., the extension of workshop papers for a special issue, and will finally close the workshop around 5.15PM.
